Kultur-All Makaan

“The Kultur-All Makaan is a new artistic and architectural response to how we might collectively welcome and celebrate the cultural contributions of members of Hazara, South Sudanese and Karen communities in the region of central Victoria – specifically Bendigo and Castlemaine.” - Punctum Inc.

Throughout 2019 I was engaged to deliver the design of a temporary structure, working collaboratively with community members to facilitate the creative design and construction.  The project enjoyed a public viewing at La Trobe Art Institute in 2019 where the completed structure was erected and officially named Kultur-All Makaan. Following this initial viewing, local textile artists from the Hazara, South Sudanese and Karen communities designed and created the interior furnishings for the structure. Kultur-All Makaan had an official public opening in Bendigo’s Rosalind Park during March 2020 and was included in the Melbourne Design Week 2020 program. Kultur-All Makaan most recently presented an extensive program of events at the Castlemaine State Festival in 2021.

The Kultur-All Makaan continues to deliver a creative program owned and curated by members of the Hazara, South Sudanese and Karen communities. For further information about the project and upcoming Kultur-All Makaan events please visit the Punctum Inc website.
